  • Are you a registered non-profit organization?
About Climate is a for-profit organization that operates nucleus tree projects / farms and outgrower system primarily in Africa, bringing local farming communities previously dependent on subsistence agricultural methods into the organic fold. We connect local communities to the global consumer markets and enable communities to benefit from our seed to consumer strategy. We act as input provider, service provider and off-taker to smallholder farmers and cooperatives. However, 5% of our net profit will be contributed to building schools, hospitals and other infrastructures.
  • How can you prove you actually plant the trees?
We provide registration for each tree we plant and also offer full transparency by drone monitoring for clients who plant over 1,350 trees
  • How can you prove that the trees you planted actually sequester carbon emission?
We work with third-party agencies to verify our carbon sequestration based on the strictest and most accepted standards - VERRA and Gold Standard
  • Where is your farm located?
Our farm is currently located at KM44, Kaduna-Zaria Expressway, Jaji, Igabi LGA Kaduna State, Nigeria. We will expand to Gumel, Nigeria later.
  • Can we visit the farm?
Yes of course, if you or the company you work for, plant 3000+ trees, we will host you for your time here and give you a tour of the farm, people and working conditions. As a journalist, you may always come visit the farm, just get in touch with us
  • What is carbon credit?
A carbon credit represents the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or the equivalent amount of a different greenhouse gas (tCO2e). Carbon credit holders can sell their credits to commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering their carbon footprint on a voluntary basis. These carbon offsetters purchase the credits from an investment fund or a carbon development company that has aggregated the credits from individual projects. Buyers and sellers can also use an exchange platform to trade, which is like a stock exchange for carbon credits.
  • Can I get carbon credits from the trees I plant?
If you plant more than 1,350 trees (ca. 1 ha) with About Climate, you can get carbon credits verified through our third-party agency based on either Gold Standard or VERRA. A commission fee may apply.
  • How can I make sure that 5% of the contribution actually goes to building local infractures?
We have a dedicated team that helps us to create schools, build hospitals and develop other essential infrastructures in Nigeria. More pictures and videos from the site will be provided!
  • What happens if natural disasters (e.g. bush fire and lightning igniting fire) happen in the forest that destroys the trees?
We have purchased a premium insurance to cover the loss for wind control, fire control, drainage and more.
  • What are you doing for the biodiversity?
For every 4 trees you plant, we plant a species which helps the biodiversity and the ecosystem as a whole.
  • Are there any hidden costs?
We have no hidden costs. We offer various packages that provide different service and therefore have different prices, but all prices are visible and transparent in advance.
  • I have donated to organizations, where one tree costs 1 USD, why are your trees more expensive?"
We not only plant trees, but also make sure that the trees can grow for at least 12 years from our maintenance. We observe closely, provide the necessary amounts of water and have a fully organic and biological harvesting process, no chemicals just nature. All of our planting is geo-mapped to ensure proper monitoring and traceability. Some organizations use drones to plant trees. The nurturing hands of our host communities plant tree by tree.
  • Is it dangerous, where your farm is located?"
Yes and no, generally speaking, most people are kind, social and mean well, however there is a terrorist organization that has been causing mayhem, atrocities and disgraceful crimes in our communities. The reality is that there are a lot of parts, which are not safe, but we are working on creating structures, which empower the people by creating economic prosperity, by ensuring fairly paid jobs. Let’s work together and make the world a better and safer place! We can have a direct impact in Nigeria and start combating climate change, while positively affecting the communities. It is really a domino effect.
